Uniting museum collections with cutting-edge DNA technology.

Our mission is to understand the origins of biodiversity and how species respond to environmental change. We carry out our research by combining vintage museum specimens in the Moore Lab bird and mammal collection with modern DNA research in the Fletcher Jones Foundation Genomics Center. As a large natural history collection located at a small liberal arts college in Los Angeles, undergraduate research and training is central to our mission. We take pride in our education and outreach activities in the city including museum tours and birding walks.
